    Yesufu resumes as new Governing Council Chairman .... commends College Management on giant strides
    The New Chairman of the Governing Council of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Mrs Adeola Yesufu has promised to bring to bear, her experience in the education and public sector for the overall development of the institution.
     Mrs Yesufu until her appointment by the state governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose was a member of the Governing Council of the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.
     Addressing members of the governing council and the management of the institution, Mrs Yesufu thanked the governor for granting her the opportunity to serve the state as the Chairman Governing Council of the state owned college of education, pointing out that the institution is well known for her brand in producing quality graduates that are helping to build the nation’s education sector.
     The matriarch of the aviation sector pledged to discharge her duties with other members of the council creditably with a view to take the institution to greater height.
     While acknowledging the contributions of her predecessors towards the development of the citadel of learning, Mrs Yesufu said much still needed to be done in the area of revenue generation for the college to reduce over dependence on fund from government. She commended the Provost and her management team for ensuring peace and harmony on the campus despite various challenges and promised to work within the limited time to bring about positive change in the College.
     The Provost of the College, Professor Mojisola Oyarekua had earlier briefed the new Chairman of Council on the achievements recorded in the last three years which included the establishment of College Water factory, establishment of College printing press, establishment of Digital Language laboratory the first of its kind in Colleges of education in Nigeria as well as the establishment of two gymnasia to boost the College Internally Generated Revenue.
     Others are the collaborative partnership for students/ staff exchange programmes with ICT University Baton Rouge, LA, USA as well as accreditation of eight degree programme in affiliation with the University of Nigeria Nsukka , by the Nigeria University Commission.
     On the Challenges facing the College, Professor Oyarekua said inadequate funding has been the major challenge bedevilling the College as the monthly subvention from the state government has been grossly inadequate to pay salaries and wages of her work force while the internally generated revenue has been on the short fall due to students’ low enrolment. She lamented that paucity of fund as slowed down execution of capital projects.
     Professor Oyarekua while congratulating Mrs Yesufu on her appointment as the chairman of the governing council, prayed that her tenure would bring positive changes to the College urging her to help work on the state government to ensure the release of capital grant which she said will help to mitigate some of the problems facing the 40- year old institution.


     The College of Education Ikere-Ekiti has formally entered into a pact on strategic partnership with the Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA.
     This followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by the College authorities with the Southern University, Baton Rouge Louisiana, USA as part of efforts to keep the College on the map of institutional relevance.
      A statement signed by the College spokesman, Temitope Akinbisoye said the College officials led by the Provost, Professor Mojisola Oyerekua were recently in the US to sign the MOU for the award of top-up degree in all accredited programmes from Bachelors to Doctorate levels to staff and students of the College.
     According to him, the synergistic relationship which is a watershed in the annals of the College offers plethora of benefits and opportunities to members of staff and students of the College.
     Under the agreement, the College would receive a donation of the state -of- the art multimedia E-learning management system equipment and E-library facilities from the university. The first batch of the equipment which he said had already been air-freighted is expected to arrive the College before the end of September, 2018.
     This would also be followed by the commencement of online programmes in the College and creation of platforms for lecturers -students interaction beyond the classroom.
     He stated that online training of academic members of staff on the optimal use of e-learning facilities, research opportunities for lecturers, students and administrators from the College were also included in the collaborative arrangement
     The statement added that researchers from the College would also have the opportunity to stay at the University in USA between six and twelve months to carry out their research projects in areas mutually beneficial to the two institutions.
     Other benefits include access to grants, opportunities of sabbatical appointments at Southern University for both academic and non academic staff of the College.
     While urging members of staff and students to explore these opportunities to better their lots academically and professionally, he reiterated the commitment of the College Management to ensuring that the College occupied her pride of place in terms of academic excellence, innovations and scholastic industry.

 This is to inform all the UTME and Direct Entry (DE) Candidates who have applied for admission into the University of Nigeria Nsukka, College of Education, Ikere - Ekiti Campus for the 2018/2019 that the Post UTME Exercise will take place on Monday, September 17, 2018 @ 10.00am. The University will also consider UTME Candidates who did not make UNN, Ikere Campus their first choice but scored 180 and above in the last UTME and are interested in changing to the University can do so.

The Governing Council of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti has approved the appointment of Dr. V.S. Kehinde as the new Deputy Provost of the institution. According to a statement by the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Mr. Gbenga Ojo, Council approved his appointment at its meeting held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 to succeed the incumbent Deputy Provost, Dr. Olu Aturamu whose tenure will lapse on September 30, 2018. The statement added that Council commended the outgoing Deputy Provost, Dr. Aturamu for his impressive performance during his tenure.

 A 1980 graduate of Chemistry from the Premier University, University of Ibadan, Dr. V.S. Kehinde also hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Education as well as Master's and doctorate degrees in Science Education. He started his career as a teacher at Mount Carmel Secondary School, Ikare-Akoko, 1981-84 and School of Basic Arts and Sciences, Ikare-Akoko, 1984-87. He began his tour of duty in the College as a Graduate Assistant in 1987 and rose through the ranks to the post of Chief Lecturer in Chemistry. Kehinde has served the College meritoriously in several capacities such as Head of Department, Dean, School of Science and equally served on many statutory and ad-hoc committees. Until his appointment as Deputy Provost, he has held sway as Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies and Chairman, Committee of Deans. His appointment is effective from October 1, 2018.

 In the same vein, Council approved the promotion of 67 academic staff, 147 non-teaching staff while 6 members of staff got their appointments confirmed till retiring age in line with extant regulations. The Registrar further reiterated the determination of the College authorities to motivate the College workforce for greater efficiency and productivity.

Authorities of the College of Education Ikere Ekiti have directed all the NCE and Regular Degree students to resume for the second semester academic programme on Sunday 12th of August, 2018. A statement from the Office of the Registrar noted that academic activities will commence on Monday 13th August urging the students to ensure prompt registration for the second semester programme.
