College of Education, Ikere Ekiti


Dr. Olu Aturamu was born in Akure in the mid-sixties to Chief and Deaconess Emmanuel Adeleke Aturamu of Igede-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Governent Area of Ekiti State of Nigeria.

Dr. Olu Aturamu started his education at Omolere Nursery and Primary School, Akure and later moved to Local Authority Primary School II, Akure. He had his secondary school education at Gboluji Grammar School, Ile Oluji where he sat for the WASCE in June 1981. He was at Federal School of Arts & Science Ondo for Lower six from 1982 to 1983.

He gained admission to the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Akure in 1983. He graduated with a Second Class Upper Division in Animal Production and Health in 1988. After the mandatory NYSC at Benin City (Old Bendel-State) between 1988 and 1989, he proceeded to the Nigerian Premier University, University of Ibadan in 1989. He graduated with a master's degree in Agricultural Economics in 1991.

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science from Federal University of Technology, Akure (1998), a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from University of Ado-Ekiti(Now EKSU) in 2001 and a PhD degree in Agricultural Economics from Federal University of Technology Akure in 2003. He is a specialist in Agroforestry and Environmental Economics.

Dr. Olu Aturamu is a Master trainer, Applied Scholastic Instructor having undergone a Master training course in Advanced Study technology in Applied Scholastic International, St. Louis Missouri, USA in 2006.

Dr. Olu Aturamu is currently pursuing a Law degree at the National Open University of Nigeria.

Dr. Olu Aturamu has been a lecturer in Agricultural Economics at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti since January, 1993.

At the College of Education, Ikere, Dr. Olu Aturamu has held a number of key positions including that of a Vice Dean of the School of Vocational and Technical Education. He served as deputy Director of Degree Programmes of the College for two years and a substantive director for four years. He is on his second term as Deputy Provost of the college. He has twelve published books to his credit and twenty seven of his articles have appeared in learned journals. He is a registered member of Association of University Administrator (AUA), - An Association of higher education professionals. He is a member of International Agricultural Economics Association, American Agricultural Economics Association, and Forestry Association of Nigeria.

Dr Olu Aturamu is a Lecturer in Agricultural Economics & Consultant to World Bank on Fadama Projects in Ekiti State. He is a member, College of Education Governing Council, member, Academic Board, College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, member, Development and outreach Committee and chairman of many committees including; Business committee of the Academic Board and Accreditation Committee of College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti.

Dr Olu Aturamu is the Chairman Governing Board of Demonstration Secondary School and College of Education Staff School. Dr Olu Aturamu represented the Academic Board on the Provost Selection committee of the College of Education Governing Council in 2011 and in September 2013, he represented the Academic Board on the Librarian selection committee of the College of Education Governing Council.

Dr Olu Aturamu's passion for helping the less privileged in the society led him into Rotary. He was introduced to the world of service to humanity as an undergraduate at Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in 1984 as a Rotaractor. He was inducted a Rotarian in 1995. He rose to the position of the President of Rotary Club of Akure District 9130 (Now 9125) in 2007. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International (RI) having donated a few thousands of dollars to RI for her charity works.

Dr Olu Aturamu love travelling. He has visited almost all the continents of the world. He loves playing Tennis and listening to music. Dr. Olu Aturamu, a devout Christian is happily married to Mrs. Kehinde Aturamu a seasoned banker and the marriage is blessed with children.
